When Ventus disappeared from the Hotel, he'd been sent home. Unfortunately, he was actually sent home. Since the Land of Depature no longer exists, having been destroyed by Master Xehanort, the place he was sent to didn't actually exist either. He found himself in a strange world, one that had nothing on it. No plants, no people, no animals. It was completely devoid of life, worse than a desert and barren of all hope.

In that place, a world that doesn't exist except in the darkness, he met his Master once more. Master Xehanort. He told him everything, how he swallowed the land in darkness, how he took over Terra's body. He told him about letting Aqua fall into the darkness. Everything Ventus loved, everything he cared about, all of it was swallowed by the darkness. Six months he spent under his mentor's spell again, having no where else to go and no one else to turn to; for six months, all he knew was that he had failed to do the one thing he'd set out to do most desperately. He'd failed to help and protect his friends. Using his keyblade on him again, this time on his back, Master Xehanort unlocked his heart and sealed away precious memory after precious memory while Ventus was sleeping. Now, his memories only return to him in the form of dreams…
